Life {Unscripted} Volume 6

Welcome to the 6th volume of Life {Unscripted}’s blog circle. I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since this group has formed!  In some ways it feels like just yesterday, yet on the other hand, in 6 short months, we’ve forged some really special, hopefully life-long friendships within this group and in the L{U} House.  I  never anticipated this would be such an epic journey when I put the feelers out 6 months ago to see who wanted to join me in […]

Life {Unscripted} Volume 5

Welcome to Life {Unscripted}’s 5th blog circle!  You are probably coming here from Sonia Epple Photography’s beautiful blog, if not, take a step back and check it out here . January 1st marked the start of a new year, and I decided after completing my first Project 365 last year, I need a break to start this year off.  I’m still shooting almost every day but enjoying a break on those days where I need it.   I’ve completed a few other […]

Summer in Phoenix: A Weekend Spent Finding Inspiration in the Heat

This is my fourth contribution to Beyond the Wanderlust photography blog and magazine. To see the original post, click here. It’s no secret that summers in Phoenix are pretty brutal. This past weekend, I made it a point to take my camera along to document the long weekend. I was determined […]

Our Month at Prairie-dise

This is my third contribution to Beyond the Wanderlust Photography blog and magazine.  To see the original post, click here. For the past eight summers since we moved to Phoenix, we have been fortunate enough to go back to Ohio and spend time with our families.  For most of our trip, we stay at a home we refer to as “Prairie-dise,” as it’s located on Prairie Street and it’s a virtual paradise for kids and grown-ups alike! It’s a great […]

Discovery & Adventure in Disneyland

This is my second contribution to Beyond the Wanderlust Photography blog and magazine. To see the original post, click here. Our family, and my 6 year old daughter in particular, has anticipated a trip to Disneyland for years. We were lucky enough to go with my parents, and it was so wonderful to share this experience with them! There was a lot involved in the planning process, so I am hoping by providing a few pointers here, it will help […]

A Cabin Connection

I have been asked to be a monthly contributor for Beyond the Wanderlust, photography blog and magazine. This is my first contribution to this inspirational blog.  You can view the original post here. Drawing inspiration from the people I love, in a new and beautiful setting, always makes my photographer soul so happy. This was exactly the scenario last month when I spent a weekend with my family and some amazing friends nestled away in a cabin in the White […]

Freelensing

Freelensing is a photography technique where the photographer detaches the camera lens from the body of the camera and moves it around to change the orientation of the plane of focus. The effect is very similar to using a tilt-shift lens, but you can do it with one of several different prime lenses you may already own. It’s for this reason that freelensing has been called the “poor man’s” tilt shift, however, freelensing offers a very cool bonus of natural […]
