Clockwork Heart

Clockwork Heart

oh what I’d believe

in the grip of your grit

in the rip of your whisper

when all you do makes flowers

that fade in their smiles

looking ahead

looking back

I’ve run the same mile

I’ve lost count of the hours…

the split up hands

dancing on your face

hiding your clockwork heart

red blood

blue blood

black and blue blood

won’t power the machine

oh…you make hurt have wings

the blow of broken knees

bends with my breath

and sinks in my silence

occupying where you no longer are

snagged on your clockwork heart

and I know that

I am human

I am human

nothing to do with you

nothing to do with me

everything to do with us

there’s no rewinding what you took

and took and took

and now maybe it’s the only thing

that makes you more human than machine

oh your clockwork heart
