Net of Nightmares

With all my bouncing between desolation and The Spark You hear me… all my stories and all my secrets You see me… all my scars and all my spirits and when I sink in the net of my nightmares you unravel me in the dark… And when our touches are torn apart, scattering like wind they travel as sound on every ancient highway…   Natalie resides in Peoria, Arizona, with her husband, two children, and two dogs. Her artistic journey […]

Lensbaby Love: Hiking with the Clouds and Tunes

The desert always feels different after a night of rain.  This morning the sky was covered with big, beautiful clouds.  I hike most days, temperature permitting, and this morning I took my Canon along with me because I knew I’d find abundant inspiration in the rare clouds.  I used only my Lensbaby Edge 80, just to do something different.  My music inspiration was bascially a loop of Brandi Carlile’s “Turpentine” and a cover of her song “Late Morning Lullaby” by Shovels and Rope. […]

Imperfect Offering

This series of photos was inspired by some of my all-time favorite song lyrics: “Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything, That’s how the light gets in.” They are from Leonard Cohen’s beautifully haunting song “Anthem.”  These words have been a reminder and a source of strength for me many times in recent years.  Indeed, chasing perfection instead of embracing our flaws, would be misguided.  Our imperfect is what has immeasurable value and makes each of us like no […]

Life {Unscripted} Volume 23

Welcome to the 23rd volume of Life {Unscripted}!  This past month we took our annual trip to Ohio.  We kicked the 4th of July off by riding in my father’s ’57 T-bird and throwing candy to the crowds in style.   There are children and dogs in abundance, humidity, wind, swimming, a toy closet with some vintage toys, boating, tennis and golf, “kayaking”, and a treasured family jukebox that plays 45s.  And most importantly, it’s our chance to reconnect with extended family […]
