Behind the Pixeled Curtain

“Behind the Pixeled Curtain” Whatever your physical appearance, status, or attachments, it seems it is impossible to escape judgement.  Dig deep, learn all you can about yourself and your own opinions.  If you choose to create according to those beliefs, you are already stronger than those on the sidelines judging, and it won’t take long to always hear your voice over theirs.  This is your shield of self-love, that no one can take from you.         About […]

Hammock Happy

Forest camping… Being in the forest transcends the written word.  The closest I can get to communicating how I feel, is that an exchange takes place, at a very deep level.  Each time I go, part of me is left there in the forest, and I take part of it with me.  What I take, and what I give is not tangible and it’s not greedy.  It might sound crazy to say that the forest needs anything from us.  Afterall, […]

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! This year for Halloween we welcomed a dead football player and a vampire into our house.  Luckily they were very friendly, handsome and beautiful.  They obliged my desire to take photos of them in the garage with my smoke machine.  The vampire has a strong inner actress, is involved in theater and singing, so she particularly enjoyed showcasing her costume and vampire expressions.  For these photos, I used the following lenses: Canon 50mm f/1.4, Lensbaby Edge 80, and […]

Late Summer Bloom

Morning asthma. It’s always scary. Even when it’s mild. He wanted to stay home. He could have gone to school. We are trying to find the balance. Safe at home. Safe at school. We let him stay home. He wanted chocolate pancakes. I  made him chocolate pancakes. He loves honey. It’s raw. It’s local. It’s late summer bloom. It might help his allergies. It was a beautiful morning. He was fine. He is fine. He will be fine.     […]

Edge of Thirty-Seven

Upon waking on Tuesday, October 3rd,  I was struck with an intense desire to start writing.  I skipped my daily five mile morning hike and picked up my pen instead.  The day before had been full of heartbreak for many, myself included.  With the horrific mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert and Tom Petty’s passing, I felt uncontrollable sadness.  I  knew I needed to figure out how to channel that sadness into something else that would help me refocus […]

Buddha Beach, August 2017

Yes…I have already shared a lot of pictures from this day, from this spot on social media, but here are ALL of my favorites.  I love this place, these people, these dogs, and I feel so lucky to get to enjoy it all in the moment and behind my lens.  I used two lenses for this photo series: the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 art lens, and the Lensbaby Twist 60.  I am thrilled to be collaborating with Lensbaby for their “Journey […]

Out of Range

“Out of Range” Sometimes they whisper… sometimes they scream, on the border of my dreams. But I was misunderstood, heart-soft, and obscured by my naive rain. A trade off for pleasure in pain… for what I didn’t see, didn’t know. If I listen will they help me grow… out of this nonsense-sense mind of mine again. To feel alone in time knows no end, So I listen… Listen to them, those are the lines. They bend again… and again. The branches align… […]

The Confines of Escape

The Confines of Escape Wandering a monochrome dream, she feeds coins to a vintage machine. Trying to follow her one line in and one line out… To silence the sound of no sound above the ground. Breathing heavily… She barely breathes… Her slingback shoes have broken down, her Cartwheel hat flew miles to another town. Barefoot and ahead of the rain she jumps in her Alfa Romeo, like a sparrow with a broken wing tries to fly… within the shadows […]
